Here is an example of what youth are saying about the Neonology Workshops in 2012:

This workshop was: “Eye opening. The invisible power of word etc, fun with the LEGO pieces. It was engaging, not just some boring stupid lecture”

After this workshop: “I ate lunch my friends, had a fun time and talked about how the t-shirts are”

Sonething people should know about youth is that:” Even when it seems like we’re not paying attention, we absorb all the things that happen around us and use it in our daily lives.

“I am glad that Neonology had a good message to give us and they were able to keep our attention”

Meet Dan, Robyn and Pej from Capilano Community Services.

These three run awesome programs every week on the North Shore and also spend time in high schools supporting youth with any issues they may have. In short, they are rad (and also pretty funny). At NSMS, we make a point to surround ourselves with good people, which is why we spend a lot of time with these folks.

WHERE THEY’RE AT!

Memorial gym (100 block East 23rd Street in North Vancouver)

Floor Hockey with Dan- Tuesdays from 3:30-5:30pm. 1$ admission gets you in!

William Griffin Community Centre

Come out and relax in the Youth Centre every Thursday from 6-9pm.

Everyone (who is not an adult) welcome. Watch the Canucks game, play some pool, eat some food and meet new people!

Okay- so I was in the office for a day this week but it is still nice to be signing off until Monday. A public thank you to my great co-workers Jian and Nia who were running all over town this week while I was relaxing in the sun. I know I take for granted this great crew I get to work with and so I am taking a much-needed moment to say ‘thank you’. This song has nothing to do with being thankful but it is cool and laid back, much like J + N.

Weekend challenge: be thankful and thank people who are good to you.

Strength Is Not For Hurting

We saw these ads posted on Facebook and it caused a bit of discussion but, all in all we think that it is a positive and important message. We know that rape isn’t about sex or lust but, more about power. On the other hand we also know that when “there is no rapist in the room, there is no rape” [Quote from Anita Roberts].
