Legacy

What is the Neonology “Legacy”:

Utilizing Neonolgy’s materials and best practices a new toolkit, training and web content will be developed to engage a broad range of stakeholders in the North Shore and BC communities.

Through training, broad distribution of the toolkits, ongoing promotion and two websites, the understanding of the integration issues faced by immigrant youth and best practices learned throughout the Neonology project will be disseminated.

Communities will be better prepared to support immigrant youth integration which will enhance retention of immigrant youth in our communities and develop our next community leaders who will understand their role and responsibility in developing welcoming and inclusive communities.

In the beginning:

The Neonlogy Project engaged over 3,000 youth.  Although the program was funded for the North Shore, Neonology extended it’s reach to schools in Richmond, Burnaby, and New Westminster to respond to teachers and youth who had heard about the workshops.  Neonology also facilitated workshops for teachers, parents of youth and front line providers of services to youth.

On top of that and very important to us was that youth themselves were contacting us wanting to get more involved with the Neonology initiatives.  We supported them by providing Leaderships Retreats and opportunities to develop their own initiatives (in their own style) that would make their schools more connected.

Now What?

This is where the NEONOLOGY LEGACY comes in. With our  knowledge and experience working and engaging youth, we hope to share our best practices and provide additional training to a wider audience in both the organizations of interest as well as communities outside of the NorthShore.  It is important to note that each community will have their own challenges and therefore varying approaches when it comes to anti-oppression and diversity. Therefore, the innovative Neonology training (including best practices and resources), will act as invaluable tool to support other communities in creating their own initiatives/programs that are relevant to their community’s needs.

What does this all mean?

If you are interested in having the Neonology Legacy facilitate their training/workshop on diversity and youth engagement for your organization or community please contact us immediately.  We are looking for people who are looking for ways to make their community more connected, youth friendly, and welcoming.
